Vannamei Shrimp PD | Frozen Litopenaeus vannamei (Peeled, Deveined, Tail-Off)

Vannamei Shrimp PD is the peeled, deveined, tail-off portion of the whiteleg shrimp — Litopenaeus vannamei — the world's most farmed shrimp species. The entire exoskeleton, including the tail fan, is removed and the intestinal vein is cleaned out, leaving a fully clean tail-off meat that is supplied raw and individually quick-frozen (IQF). The most convenient, fully ready-to-cook format for retail, foodservice, and further processing.

What It Is

Our PD shrimp are produced from farm-raised Litopenaeus vannamei (whiteleg / Pacific white shrimp), raised in controlled ponds and processed under HACCP. Each shrimp is peeled (entire shell including the tail fan removed), deveined (intestinal tract taken out via a shallow back cut), and tail-off (no tail retained), then individually quick-frozen (IQF) — free-flowing pieces ideal for precise portioning, mixed dishes, and value-added processing. Graded by count (e.g., 16/20, 21/25, 26/30, 31/40, 41/50, 51/60, 61/70, 71/90 per lb), glazed 5–20% (100% net weight available), packed in retail bags or 10 kg master cartons. Because vannamei is 100% farm-raisedASC / BAP / GLOBALG.A.P. are legitimately available on request (they certify responsible aquaculture); MSC does not apply — vannamei is not a wild-caught fishery. Clean-label (no phosphate / sulfite treatment) and antibiotic-free programs available.

FAQ

A. Procurement / Trade

A1. What is the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is typically 1 × 20' reefer container (~9–10 MT in 10 kg cartons) or 1 × 40' HC reefer (~18–24 MT). Lead time ~15–30 days after order confirmation and deposit, subject to count grade, glaze, retail vs. bulk pack, and certification (e.g., ASC/BAP). Main loading ports: Fuzhou / Xiamen / Qingdao, China, with multi-origin (Ecuador / India / Vietnam / Indonesia) available on request.

A2. What incoterms and payment terms do you offer?
We trade on FOB / CIF / CFR. Payment is typically T/T (30% deposit, 70% against B/L copy) or confirmed L/C at sight for qualified buyers.

A3. Can different products be mixed in one container, and do you offer OEM?
Yes. Mixed loading with other frozen seafood is available subject to compatible storage temperature and carton dimensions. We also support OEM, private label, and custom spec (count grade, glaze %, retail / foodservice / bulk pack, labeling, clean-label vs. treated).

B. Documents / Compliance

B1. What documents accompany each shipment?
Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Health Certificate, Certificate of Analysis (COA), HALAL (if applicable), Certificate of Origin, and antibiotic / microbiology / heavy-metal analysis. EU establishment number and FDA registration issued where required.

B2. Which certifications apply to this product?
HACCP and HALAL as standard; BRC, ISO 22000, FDA registration, and EU Reg. 853/2004 available on request. For sustainability, ASC / BAP / GLOBALG.A.P. are available on request for the farmed origin (see D2).

B3. What is the country of origin and how is traceability managed?
Country of origin: China (CN) as standard, with a multi-origin program (Ecuador / India / Vietnam / Indonesia) available on request. Each carton carries a batch code tracing back to the specific farm / processing lot for full farm-to-container traceability, including antibiotic-residue screening.

C. Specs / Logistics

C1. What species and form are supplied?
Species: Litopenaeus vannamei (whiteleg / Pacific white shrimp), farm-raised. Form: PD — Peeled, Deveined, Tail-Off (entire shell including tail fan removed, vein cleaned).

C2. What freeze type, count grades, and glaze apply?
IQF (individually quick-frozen, free-flowing). Count grades 16/20 – 90/100 per lb (per-kg counts on request). Glaze 5–20% (100% net weight / 0% glaze available). Clean-label (no phosphate / sulfite) or standard treatment options.

C3. What packaging and shelf life apply?
Retail poly bags (1 / 2 / 5 lb), foodservice 1 kg / 2 kg bags, bulk 10 kg master cartons; OEM available. Shelf life 24 months at −18 °C (unopened). HS code 0306.17 (frozen shrimps and prawns; breaded / marinated → 1605).

D. Technical Clarification

D1. Which shrimp species is this, and how is it different from black tiger / coldwater prawn?
This product is Litopenaeus vannamei (whiteleg / vannamei shrimp), a warmwater penaeid farmed species — distinct from black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) and from coldwater prawns (Pandalus / Pandalopsis). They differ in species, price tier, meat texture, and supply chain; confirm the Latin name on the contract and invoice to receive the graded species you priced and avoid substitution.

D2. Is ASC / BAP used here, and why not MSC?
Vannamei is 100% farm-raised (there is no wild-caught commercial fishery for this species), so ASC / BAP / GLOBALG.A.P. are the legitimately applicable sustainability certifications (they certify responsible aquaculture). MSC applies only to wild-capture fisheries and does not apply to farmed shrimp — a product labeled MSC for vannamei would be incorrect. The real compliance point for shrimp is antibiotic-residue screening and clean-label (no phosphate / sulfite) options, which we support.

D3. What does PD mean vs. PDTO / PUD, and how is count graded?
PD = Peeled + Deveined + Tail-Off (entire shell, including the tail fan, removed; vein out) — the fully clean, ready-to-cook format. Comparisons: PDTO = Peeled, Deveined, Tail-On (tail fan retained, slightly higher price for premium presentation); PUD = Peeled, Undeveined. PD is typically the highest-volume SKU for retail, foodservice, and further processing because the tail is removed. Count is the number of pieces per unit weight — per pound (U.S. standard: 16/20, 21/25, 26/30, 31/40, 41/50, …) or per kilogram (EU / Asia); always confirm the count basis in writing, as 21/25 per lb is a different size than 21/25 per kg.
