Giant Squid Head Skin Off Dosidicus gigas

Giant Squid Head Skin Off is the head-and-tentacle portion of giant squid (Dosidicus gigas, Humboldt squid), cleaned, beak and eyes removed, and skinned (skin off) for a clean, white appearance, then individually quick-frozen (IQF). Distinct from squid rings (mantle cross-cut), this cut delivers the tender tentacles and flavorful head meat prized in stir-fries, grills, and Asian seafood dishes. Pre-cleaned and ready to cook.

What It Is

Our giant squid heads are produced from wild-caught giant squid — Dosidicus gigas (Humboldt squid), also known as jumbo squid. After separating the head from the mantle, we remove the beak and eyes, wash thoroughly, and skin the head and arms to expose the clean white flesh, then IQF-freeze each piece separately. No unnecessary additives are used.

FAQ

What is your MOQ, and can different products be mixed in one container?
Standard MOQ is one 20' reefer container (approx. 18–20 MT). Mixed loading with other frozen seafood items from our catalog is available on request, subject to compatible storage temperature and carton dimensions.

What is the production lead time, and what Incoterms do you offer?
Typical lead time is 15–25 days after order confirmation and receipt of deposit. We trade on FOB, CIF, and CFR terms. Main loading port: Fuzhou / Xiamen, China.

What payment terms do you accept?
We accept T/T (30% deposit, 70% against copy of B/L) and L/C at sight for qualified buyers.

Can you provide samples? What is the sample cost and lead time?
Yes. Reference samples are available; sample and international courier costs are borne by the buyer (or deducted from the first official order). Sample lead time is 5–7 working days.

What export documents do you provide?
We supply Health Certificate, Certificate of Origin, Catch Certificate / IUU Declaration, Certificate of Analysis (COA), Packing List, Commercial Invoice, and Bill of Lading. EU-approved establishment number and HALAL certificate are issued where required by destination.

Which certifications apply to this product?
HACCP, BRC, HALAL, FDA registration, EU approval, and ISO 22000 — all facility-level and third-party audited.

What is the country of origin and FAO fishing area? How is traceability managed?
Country of origin: China (CN). Source species are wild-caught; FAO areas vary by supply (e.g., 61, 71, 87). Each lot carries a batch code linked to catch and processing records for full traceability.

What are the carton specifications and container loading?
Standard carton: 10 kg net (12 / 20 kg on request), inner food-grade polybag. Approx. 1,800–2,000 cartons per 20' reefer (~18–20 MT). Palletization and vacuum master packs available.

What is the remaining shelf life at shipment, and how do you guarantee cold-chain integrity?
Minimum 24 months from production; we ensure at least 22–23 months remaining at shipment. Reefer set at -18°C (±1°C) with optional temperature logger; containers are pre-cooled before loading.

Do you offer OEM / private label / custom specifications?
Yes. We support OEM, private label, and custom spec — piece-weight grading (e.g., 20–300 g), glaze % (10–50%), retail packs (500 g–2 kg), and recipe adjustment on request.

Is this squid or octopus, and what species is used?
This is true squid (cephalopod), not octopus. The primary species is Dosidicus gigas (Humboldt / jumbo squid). Other squid species can be supplied on request.

What is the allergen and additive policy?
Allergen: Mollusc (cephalopod) — not a fish or crustacean allergen. No preservatives or STPP added unless specified; glaze is potable water only.
