Crinkle Cut Frozen French Fries | Wavy Par-Fried Potato (IQF)

Crinkle Cut Frozen French Fries are par-fried, individually quick-frozen (IQF) potato sticks with a signature wavy / zig-zag (crinkle) cut, made from selected high-starch potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). The corrugated ridges increase surface area — delivering extra crispiness and holding seasoning, coatings, and dipping sauces far better than straight-cut fries. Each strip is blanched, lightly par-fried, then IQF-frozen as free-flowing individual pieces. A texture-forward favorite for QSR, foodservice, and retail, distinct from straight / shoestring / wedge formats.

What It Is

Our crinkle fries are produced from frying-grade, high-starch potato varieties (e.g., Russet / Burbank, or Santana / Diamond types) selected for low sugar and consistent golden finish. Potatoes are washed, peeled, cut on a crinkle (corrugated) blade to spec, blanched, par-fried in vegetable oil (typically < 3–4% residual oil, ~96% potato + ~4% oil), and then IQF-frozen as free-flowing individual sticks. Standard crinkle widths: 9×9 / 10×10 / 12×12 / 14×14 mm (12 mm ≈ 7/16" is the classic foodservice size); coated (battered / dusted) or uncoated, skin-on or skin-off, and seasoned options available on request. Supplied frozen at −18 °C, glaze-free, 24-month shelf life. Non-seafood frozen food — food-safety certified (HACCP / BRC / IFS / ISO 22000) with HALAL / KOSHER available; sustainability here means responsible sourcing and third-party audit, not fishery certs (MSC / ASC do not apply).

(Note: MSC / ASC are fishery certs and do not apply to potato products — for fries, "sustainability" means responsible farm sourcing, water/energy stewardship, and third-party food-safety audit.)
  • Packaging: 500 g × 20, 1 kg × 10, 2 kg × 5, 2.5 kg × 4, 5 kg × 2, 10 kg × 1 carton; 625 kg per tote available; retail bags and foodservice bulk both supported. Private-label OEM available.
  • Shelf life: 24 months at −18 °C (unopened). HS code: 2004.10 (frozen prepared potatoes / par-fried fries).

Storage & Handling

  • Store at −18 °C or below. Avoid temperature fluctuation and thaw-refreeze cycles.
  • Finish-fry from frozen (no thaw needed) at 175–190 °C for 2.5–4 min, or oven / air-fry per spec. Cook thoroughly before serving.
  • Shelf life: 24 months from production date under proper frozen storage.

FAQ

A. Procurement / Trade

A1. What is the MOQ and lead time? MOQ is typically 1 × 20' reefer container (~10–12 MT in 10 kg cartons) or 1 × 40' reefer (~21–23 MT). Lead time ~7–15 days after order confirmation and deposit, subject to cut width, coating / skin-on option, packaging, and certification (HALAL / KOSHER). Main loading ports: Fuzhou / Xiamen / Qingdao, China.

A2. What incoterms and payment terms do you offer? We trade on FOB / CIF / CFR. Payment is typically T/T (30% deposit, 70% against B/L copy) or confirmed L/C at sight for qualified buyers.

A3. Can different products be mixed in one container, and do you offer OEM? Yes. Mixed loading with other frozen items (including seafood and vegetables) is available subject to compatible storage temperature and carton dimensions. We also support OEM, private label, and custom spec (crinkle width, coated/uncoated, skin-on/off, seasoning, packaging, labeling).

B. Documents / Compliance

B1. What documents accompany each shipment? Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Health Certificate, Certificate of Analysis (COA), HALAL / KOSHER (if applicable), Certificate of Origin, and microbiology / pesticide-residue analysis.

B2. Which certifications apply to this product? HACCP, BRC, IFS, ISO 22000 as standard; HALAL and KOSHER available on request; GAP / SEDEX audit supported. MSC / ASC do not apply (see D2).

B3. What is the country of origin and how is traceability managed? Country of origin: China (CN), processed from high-starch potatoes sourced from contracted farms. Each carton carries a batch code tracing back to the farm lot and processing records for full traceability.

C. Specs / Logistics

C1. What crinkle widths and options are supplied? Crinkle widths: 9×9 / 10×10 / 12×12 / 14×14 mm (12 mm ≈ 7/16" classic). Options: coated (battered / dusted) or uncoated, skin-on or skin-off, plain or seasoned. Length is natural / standard; custom widths on request.

C2. What freeze type and oil treatment apply? Par-fried then IQF (free-flowing individual sticks, no clumping). Residual oil < 3–4% after par-fry; ~96% potato + ~4% vegetable oil (palm kernel typical). Glaze-free.

C3. What packaging and shelf life apply? 500 g × 20, 1 kg × 10, 2 kg × 5, 2.5 kg × 4, 5 kg × 2, 10 kg × 1 carton; 625 kg/tote available. Shelf life 24 months at −18 °C (unopened). HS code 2004.10.

D. Technical Clarification

D1. How is crinkle cut different from straight / shoestring, and is the HS the same? Crinkle is a wavy / zig-zag (corrugated) cut — its ridges add surface area for extra crispiness and better seasoning / sauce retention versus straight or shoestring cuts. It is still a par-fried frozen fry, so HS 2004.10 is identical to straight-cut fries (raw un-fried potato would be HS 0710). Confirm cut type and HS on the contract so you receive the crinkle profile you priced.

D2. Why are MSC / ASC not listed — which certs actually matter for fries? MSC / ASC are fishery and aquaculture sustainability certs and do not apply to potato products. For frozen fries, the meaningful certs are food-safety systems (HACCP / BRC / IFS / ISO 22000) plus HALAL / KOSHER for market access, and GAP / SEDEX audits for responsible sourcing. "Sustainability" for fries means farm sourcing, water/energy stewardship, and third-party audit — not a fish stock label.

D3. IQF vs. block frozen, and which potato variety is used? IQF freezes individual sticks free-flowing — no clumping, ideal for retail and portion control. Block frozen is a solid mass, lower unit cost, for foodservice re-cut. We use high-starch, frying-grade potato varieties (e.g., Russet / Burbank, Santana / Diamond) selected for low sugar and consistent golden crispness — the variety directly affects finish color and oil uptake, so confirm the grade on the spec sheet.
