Peru Seafood Exports Up 16.5% in 2025

As reported by SeafoodSource on February 11, 2026, the Ministry of Production of Peru (PRODUCE) released a report showing that Peru's seafood export value reached 4.27 billion US dollars in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%, driven mainly by the rising export volumes of anchovies, tuna and squid. Specifically, the landing volume of anchovies in Peru hit 4.63 million metric tons in 2025, up 3.2% year-on-year. The landing and export volumes of squid surged by 252% and 211% respectively, while those of tuna rose by 193% and 32.1% year-on-year. However, the specific figures for the landing and export volumes of squid and tuna were not disclosed. In addition, Peru has formulated guidelines based on the National Fisheries Policy 2040 issued under the relevant Supreme Decree, aiming to raise the seafood industry’s contribution rate to the gross domestic product (GDP) from 0.75% to 1.29%. PRODUCE estimates that the implementation of these guidelines will add up to 467 million US dollars to Peru’s annual trade volume and create 64,000 direct and indirect jobs in fisheries-related sectors.
