Norwegian Salmon Hits 3-Year Low, Scotland Follows Suit

In the 31st week of 2025 (July 28 - August 3), the price of Norwegian Atlantic salmon continued to drop, hitting a new low in nearly three years. Weak demand in the European market coupled with sufficient supply has intensified pressure on exporters.

  • Norwegian Market

    31st-week delivered 4-5kg salmon (FCA Oslo) averaged NOK 52.50/kg, down NOK 5.5/kg month-on-month (-10%); 6-7kg salmon priced at NOK 63.50/kg, down NOK 4.50/kg. Typically, price lows occur in August, but the decline cycle has advanced this year.


  • US Market

    In the 30th week, Norwegian fresh salmon prices fell $0.20/lb: 4-5lb Trim-D fillet wholesale price stood at $5.95/lb. Continuous drops have made buyers cautious, waiting for stabilization. Meanwhile, Chilean fresh salmon prices remained stable in the US; frozen fillet prices were unchanged, but supply of 6-8oz large sizes tightened.


  • Scottish Market

    Driven by Norway's price slump, 31st-week average price of 3-6kg salmon exported to Europe was €5.90/kg, down €0.75-€0.90/kg; 6+kg salmon priced at €6.20/kg, down €1.0/kg.
