Russian regulatory authorities plan to reduce the total allowable catch (TAC) of pollock in the Far East in 2025 in response to the recommendations of industry organizations.
Industry organizations recommend reducing TAC, mainly because of the difficulties in adjusting the export structure after the epidemic and the challenges brought by international trade sanctions. Despite the good catch and market performance of pollock, Russian companies are encouraged to promote pollock products more widely and reduce dependence on specific markets.
The TAC levels for pollock in the Far East in 2023 and 2024 are set at high levels, but the specific reduction details for 2025 have not yet been disclosed. The final decision will be based on data on the status of pollock resources, market conditions and enterprise production plans.
Wild catches of Far Eastern pollock have continued to rise in recent years, but industry organizations recommend maintaining the sustainability of TAC.
