This year's fishing season has started well, with significant squid catches in the Southern Patagonia region, averaging over 30 tons per day.
As of March 5, the total catch reached 74,913 tons, a year-on-year increase of 54%.
A total of 63,037 tons were caught by 65 ships in Argentine waters, an increase of 45%.

Catches by trawlers and other vessel types have also increased significantly. Although fine-grained data are not publicly available, the southern Patagonian population is considered to have good prospects.
The fish target was briefly lost last week due to bad weather, but has now been rediscovered and good fishing is continuing.
